A city full of wonders. Famous for its food, crafts, and Day of the Dead celebrations, Oaxaca’s Central Valley has long been a meeting and trading place for the diverse indigenous communities of its numerous mountains. It also boasts beautiful beaches, including Puerto Escondido, Huatulco, Puerto Ángel, Zipolite, and Chipehua.
It is located in the Mesoamerican region where the Zapotec culture flourished in the Monte Albán area, and later, the Mixtec culture.
Mole or chipilín tamales, tlayudas, pumpkin soup, delicious quesillo and marinated or salted cecina, and of course their typical drink: mezcal.
You can walk through its colorful streets and colonial buildings, visit the Santo Domingo Temple, the Ethnobotanical Garden, and the 20 de Noviembre Market, visit one of its coasts, and spend a relaxing stay in Huatulco or a weekend getaway in Puerto Escondido.
